OSX, microsoft office, IOS Alerts and Updates
Update tuesday from Microsoft for m
Mac’s using MS Office 2004, 2008 and 2011 have CRITICAL security updates!!!
Open for ie: word and find “check for updates“.
Then follow instructions.
Apple has released OSX update for LION 10.7.4
HINT:– If you havnot been fastidious about your updates download the Lion 10.7.4 COMBO UPDATE.
Apple has also released IOS 5.1.1

Firefox 12.x.x find ABOUT FIREFOX in the HELP list, then look for the update button in the near middle,top of this window.

I think by now you are getting the idea, there have been many version upgrades for many APPS, so time to do a little SPRING CLEANING. That is delete old Apps you no longer use. UPDATE or UPGRADE your Apps.
THUNDERBIRD eMAIL upgrade NOW
For those who use Thunderbird email to see all emails other than Apple mail
Mozilla will be stopping support for the current version 3.2.X soon.
The new version is 11.0

Surrey rec centre and Shaw Cable have wired internet access into meeting room #2 for and given use a new cable modem
For access you will have to tell your ios or other mobile device to “FORGET THIS NETWORK”.
Then rescan for wireless access

ROCKMELT the web not a browser but a WOWser for Facebook and Twitter and?
A newer web browser, for pc , mac and Mobile devices based on Google Chrome with integration for Facebook and Twitter, that allows you to surf the web while staying fully connected to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr and Gmail at the same time.
So if you use either of these social apps you may want to see if Rockmelt suits you
This browser received a glowing report from the staff of a magazine named “iCreate” published in the UK
They also have apps for the Apple mobile devices to view some articles.

SECURITY reminder web browsers
This is a reminder to UPDATE your web browser of choice
Be it:
Safari (apple tells you to)
Firefox version 11 is now the standard with 12 in beta testing
To see what version you are running in Firefox click on “HELP” scroll to “ABOUT FIREFOX” the window that opens will tell you what version is running and if there is an update available.
If it is NOT version 11 if it is maybe versions 6 thru 9 then goto Mozilla and download the latest Firefox and install– then uninstall the older version if it has not been done
The same is true for the other browsers Googles CHROME — or which ever browser you use
THE REASON FOR THIS IS ONLINE SECURITY OLDER VERSIONS HAVE NOT BEEN HARDENED TO HACKER ATTACKS
Want to Keep up todate with new apps etc between meetings
There are several tv shows airing on lower mainland channels that report on the latest in apps for mobile devices
The first is AppTV that airs on CHEK tv Sat and Mon at 7:30 PM PST sponsered by Telus
After contacting AppTv it has been confirmed that this series is on hiatus and will be replaced by “GetConnectedMedia” a new series starting in April
